Members update

The Menier Gallery will be hosting the 80th annual exhibition of The National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers from Tuesday 10 - Saturday 21 September.

This is an opportunity for the public to see a broad range of work encompassing a dynamic mixture of contemporary paintings, sculpture and printmaking by well established artists from around the UK. Not only will there be hung work to view but also works on paper in browsers and artist cards. Don’t miss this opportunity to support one of London’s premier contemporary art exhibitions and the chance to purchase innovative art at realistic prices.

An increasing number of commission4mission members are also becoming part of the National Society, so look out for some familiar faces if you are able to see the show.

Oxford Journals have recently published the latest book review by Jonathan Evens in The Journal of Theological Studies: The Sacred Community: Art, Sacrament, and the People of God. By DAVID JASPER. Jonathan Evens The Journal of Theological Studies 2013; doi: 10.1093/jts/flt127.

commission4mission's Greenbelt market stall

Many thanks to everyone who contributed at short notice to our market stall at this year's Greenbelt Festival, in particular Barbara and Harvey Bradley and Jonathan Evens who staffed the stall for us. As well as sales of work and general publicity, the stall also generated new contacts and useful conversations about aspects of our work.

We showed a selection of original work from Hayley Bowen, Harvey Bradley, Ally Clarke, Elizabeth Duncan Meyer, Jonathan Evens, Mark Lewis, Caroline Richardson, Joy Rousell Stone, Henry Shelton and Peter Webb. This included cards, jewellery, meditations, notebooks, prints and t-shirts produced by our artists for sale, as well as information about our work on commissions, exhibitions, events and publications.

Members' update: Christopher Clack and Pouka

'Big Brother' by Pouka

'Feeding Time' by Pouka

Two of commission4mission's most innovative artists are currently part of group shows.

Christopher Clack has some of his large black and white portraits in the Cork Street Open which continues until 16th August. For the past five years the Cork Street Open Exhibition has provided an opportunity for both emerging and established artists from around the world to compete for an invitation to have their work shown in Mayfair and the heart of London's art dealing centre.

Meanwhile sculptures and large-scale paintings by Pouka, including The Rapture (4 x 2 metres) and Sinking Earth (2 x 3.5 metres), can be seen at the Random Acts of Artistry Exhibition in the Daniel Libeskind Space (Islington, N7 8DB) from Wednesday 14th until Friday 16th August in collaboration with the Guerilla Galleries and many other artists.

commission4mission market stall @ Greenbelt

commission4mission will be at this year's Greenbelt Festival with a market stall promoting our work and with work for sale.

Harvey Bradley has organised our stall and will be showing a selection of his ceramics. This will be supplemented by a small selection of framed work and works on paper from other commission4mission artists. In addition, there will be information about our commissions, exhibitions and events which can be viewed by those visiting the stall.

Greenbelt is an arts, faith and justice festival with a long and rich history as a festival like no other – both in terms of the breadth and depth of its content and also its vibe. Greenbelt is 40 years old in 2013. The thread that has run throughout its 40 consecutive festivals is that the arts, faith and justice make for a heady mix of creativity and challenge.

Do come and see us if you will be at Greenbelt this year.
